Local Service Projects

We pride ourselves on integrating our membership with the community, seeking out needs and developing solutions. Here is a sampling of some projects we’ve done or are doing locally.

Sleep Cubbies Project

This is a project that started in 2022/2023 when President Jay Murphy introduced a multi-year large scale project that our club is supporting, both financially and via volunteers.  The project has grown to where it is now its own 501.c.3 called Sleep Cubbies, Inc.  Please click HERE to see details of the project.

Halloween Books Instead of Candy Project

This project began in 2010 when the Encanto Palmcroft neighborhood decided that it would be better to provide books to young kids rather than candy.  Each year, they distribute roughly 4000 books to about 2000 kids on Halloween night.  They block off the street, and volunteers from Rotary Interact Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, and Rotary Clubs all volunteer by helping the kids pick out books of interest.  Please join us on Halloween night.  Contact Jay Murphy.

Ring a Bell and Make a Difference

Phoenix Rotary Club 100's AvatarRing a Bell and Make a Difference

This holiday season, our Rotary club is volunteering with The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign to help support individuals and families in need. Donations collected through the campaign help provide food, shelter, emergency assistance, and other essential services.

Join us on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Fry’s Food Store, 4707 E Shea Blvd, Phoenix. Volunteers will greet shoppers, ring the bell, and encourage donations—a simple way to put Service Above Self into action while spreading holiday cheer.

We need two volunteers per two-hour shift. Please add your name and contact information to the sign-up sheet for 9–11 AM, 11 AM–1 PM, 1–3 PM, or 3–5 PM.

Can’t volunteer in person? You can still help by donating to our Virtual Red Kettle.

For questions or any issues, call Crissy Shemer at 602-403-4248.

Every shift volunteered and every donation helps us care for our community.
